This news might come as a pleasant surprise to you, but the United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May on Tuesday announced that a new visa will be launched in 2019 spring. This advantage will open wider doors to the talented founders of business ventures to the country. The scheme is introduced as a measure to show the world that the country is the best place to run a tech company.  

As per the reports published in the Independent earlier in May, it appeared that more than 6,000 visa applications from professionals including scientists, IT specialists and doctors were refused to enter the country over a period of just four months between December and March. Theresa May’s arbitrary visa scheme which was passed in 2011 when she was the home secretary. Figures obtained from The Campaign for Science and Engineering (CaSE) said the “arbitrary” cap was leaving thousands of vital roles unfilled and damaging productivity, public services, business confidence and the UK’s international reputation.

It is also known that the new route will make the visa process faster and smoother for entrepreneurs coming to the UK. It will replace the visa which was made exclusively for graduates, now opening to the wider audience to the world in terms of business and innovation.

The new visa called the ‘Start-up Visas’ will allow talented entrepreneurs who have endorsed with “genuine and credible ideas” to officially stay in the UK. People from India and other non-EU graduates from the UK Universities are eligible for this scheme.

Keeping in mind the migration flow in the country, the UK Home Secretary said that the world will be able to see them as the leading country in the field of tech and innovation which will thus attract more business persons to set up their ventures.

From a report from The Hindustan Times, a new visa was announced by May in Downing Street at an event that saw £2.3 billion of private investment and 1,600 new jobs as part of the London Tech Week.

“The measures we are announcing today will allow innovative British start-ups to invest in their future–and in the UK–by hiring more skilled people, expanding their business and exporting their expertise across the world,” said May.

“It’s a great time to be in tech in the UK, and our modern Industrial Strategy will drive continued investment, ensuring the nation flourishes in the industries of the future and creating more high-paying jobs.”
