Post demonetisation speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, everyone waits for his address to the nation holding their breath with anticipation of getting some good news and this time Mr Modi has done the same, he gave the surprise of Rs 20 lakh crore financial package along with the news of the continuation of the lockdown with new rules.

In his fifth address to the nation, including a video message, following the outbreak of COVID-19 Mr Modi said that the virus has disrupted the entire world, “We have never heard or seen such crisis before. The world has been fighting COVID pandemic for over four weeks now and the only solution to deal with this pandemic is being self-dependent,” said Mr Modi.   

This era of self-reliance will be our new pledge and new festival; we have to move on with new resolve, we will make India self-reliant,” he said adding that Lockdown 4 will have a new set of rules, says PM. The details will be given to you before May 18, “I am confident we will follow rules, fight corona and march ahead,” he added.

Mr Modi also spoke about promoting the local produce and using it ourselves. “Today what call the global brand was started as a local brand in their countries, people started using and made it global,” he said adding that Coronavirus crisis has taught us the importance of local manufacturing, local products. “Beginning from today, every Indian should be ‘vocal about local’. Buy not just local products but also promote them proudly.”    

“I am happy to announce the special financial package of Rs 20 Lakh Crore, which is 10 per cent of the GDP. The special economic package will have an emphasis on land, labour, liquidity and laws,” said PM adding that starting tomorrow, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will share details of this package. 

Mr Modi said that there are 5 pillars which will help India to become the self-reliant “One Economy, two Infrastructure, three Technology, four Vibrant Demography and five Demand,” said Mr Modi.

India can become self-reliant The world now believes India can do something good for the welfare of the humanity,” PM said adding that When India speaks of self-reliance, it does not advocate for a self-centred system. In India’s self-reliance, there is a concern for the whole world’s happiness, cooperation & peace.”
