On Monday, September 6, an unidentifiable dead body of a woman with multiple injuries was found on Avinashi Road in Coimbatore.
On Monday morning, motorists informed the traffic investigation wing (TIW-east) of the city police about the incident.
When police reached the spot, they found a lifeless half-naked body of a woman, whose head and face was completely smashed.
The body was run over by a few vehicles before police could reach the spot and retrieve it.
When the Peelamedu police collected CCTV footage from a nearby commercial establishment, they discovered that the body was thrown off of an SUV.
They also witnessed two vehicles running over the body.
The police have registered the case under the suspicion of death and a possible murder. The police have sent the body for post-mortem to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH), the report of autopsy is still awaited.
Police officials said that the cause of the death will be ascertained only after getting the postmortem report.
Two special police teams are continuing the further investigation.
