The client is the source of income for the lawyers and beating the client in public that too inside the court premises have surely brought a lot of disgrace to the profession of a lawyer. The dispute has been erupted out of demanding the fees back by the client, claims the reports.
The victim Lalta Prasad had told the media that, the lawyers beat him mercilessly inside the court premises and they also snatched his mobile phone and a purse from him, during the assault. The reason behind this assault is the demand of refund from the lawyer as he did not fulfil his duty after collecting the fees from the client.
The victim Lalta Prasad, who is a truck driver by profession, has said that he had engaged a lawyer for cancelling of the challan issued by the RTO to him, and the lawyer had agreed to it for the fees of Rs. 5000 but he (victim) had negotiated the fees down to Rs. 3500 “I paid the fees to the lawyer but he did not keep his promise of getting he challan channelled, and when I demanded my money back, he along with the group of lawyers started assaulting me,” said the victim.
It is true that the money cannot be demanded once the fees are paid for the services rendered by the lawyers but, at the same time the lawyer cannot start beating their own clients publicly that too inside the court premises over the dispute of the money. They can deny the refund and if required prosecute the person, otherwise what kind of example they will set for the others?
The media claimed it as absolute barbaric behaviour by the lawyers that had been surfaced in the Ram Nagar court premises. The sources have condemned the irrational behaviour of the lawyers and said that there is an absolute lawlessness inside the court. The police also did not go to the rescue of the victim while the lawyers kept thrashing him, said the sources.
