This may not be the first time that the IndiGo Airlines has caught an attention of the media due to the misbehavior of its staff members with the passenger. One of India’s top economic class airlines is always been the controversy due to such kind of incidents. Although the senior officials sought an apology from the passenger and also removed the staff members from the job. The shocking incident went viral on the social media with the video of the incident posted by someone online showing the IndiGo ground staff manhandling the 53-year-old man. In the video, you can see how the staff of one of the most repeated Airlines in India manhandling the passenger who is a senior citizen. The staff is fighting like a roadside Goonda. How the safety the passengers can be assured by the IndiGo airlines when they have the staff which is not trained to deal with the passengers?

The incident took place at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport last month but the same has emerged recently following the video of the incident that went viral on the social media. The scuffle between the passenger and the staffer took place on October 15 when the former was boarding a shuttle to his flight, said the sources.

The incident sparked following the argument between the IndiGo staffer and the passenger. According to the reports, the 53-year-old passenger Rajiv Katyal was about to board the shuttle, and he was stopped by the Indigo staffer. While one of the staffers trying to pacify Katyal, another intervened in the matter and pinned the passenger to the ground and throttled him. The fight said to have continued more than a minute until other people intervened and rescued the victim Katyal from the clutches of IndiGo airlines staffer.

According to the reports published in the TimeOfIndia This drama unfolded on October 15 when 6E 487 flew into Delhi from Chennai. After alighting from the Airbus A-320, a passenger Rajiv Katiyal got into an argument with some ground staffers over some issue and he allegedly abused them. What sparked this argument has not been ascertained yet. Two to three IndiGo ground staffers stopped Katyal from boarding the bus which was taking passengers to the terminal. They then manhandled him and dragged him on the tarmac for over a minute. An IndiGo employee, Montu Kalra, who was at the site tried to intervene and shot a video of his colleagues manhandling the passenger.

Following the incident become viral on the social media, the IndiGo Airlines has issued a letter of an apology to the passenger. IndiGo’s president said that the incident was investigated and stern action was taken against the staff. “I acknowledge the unpleasant experience our passenger went through while engaging with our staff at Delhi airport. My personal apologies as this do not reflect our culture. I had personally spoken to the passenger and asked for an apology. At IndiGo, the dignity of our passengers and staff is of utmost importance. Any act that compromises the dignity of either is of a serious concern to us. Under the code of conduct violation, this incident was investigated and stern action was taken against the staff. Once again my personal and sincere apologies to the affected passenger.” Reacting to the incident, Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju said, ”Seeking report from DGCA. The violence of any sort is deplorable and should result in criminal action.”
