Veteran actor Anupam Shyam died on Sunday, 6th August, at the age of 63 due to multiple organ damage. It was informed that Anupam has serious kidney issues and had once collapsed during his dialysis in a hospital in Mumbai. Later he was shifted to a hospital in Gurgaon.

His friend Yashpal Sharma said, “I got to know that he’s no more. So we rushed here and found he was still breathing. The doctor later declared him dead. He was hospitalized for 4 days. He had high blood sugar and used to take injections during the shooting of his last film”

Producer Ashok Pandit also confirmed the news of Anupam Shyam’s demise with a tweet on Sunday night. “Sad to know about the demise of one of the finest actors & a great human being #AnupamShyam due to multiple organ failure. My heartfelt condolences to his family. A great loss to the film & tv industry,” he said.

He is said to have spent his last moments along with his brothers Anurag, and Kanchan. His brother, Anurag Shyam told SpotboyE last year, “He has been keeping unwell for the last six months now. He has an infection in his kidney due to which we had admitted him to Hinduja Hospital back then and got him treated for almost one and half months. That time his health got fine but he has suggested dialysis, from time to time. But he decided to go for ayurvedic treatment as dialysis costs a lot. That didn’t help.”

He got breathless recently because of not doing dialysis. His chest was filled with water, so we again started his dialysis and he started getting relief.

Anupam started his Hindi film career in 1996 with Shyam Benegal’s Sardari Begum and his television career with Benegal’s Amaravathi ki Kathaye. He had worked in numerous movies like Dil Se, Satya, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Zakhm, Dushman, and an internationally recognized movie, Slumdog Millionaire, among others.

He rose to fame from his role as Thakur Sajjan Singh in Mann Ki Awaaz (2009-2012). He also recently started working for ‘Mann Ki Awaaz: Pratigya’.
